Description

This technically-refined chocolate poke cake uses a moisture-wicking matrix to ensure a perfectly saturated crumb without sacrificing structural integrity. Topped with a stable whipped cream and crunchy Snickers bites, it offers a professional-grade balance of textures and deep cocoa flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1 box milk chocolate cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 extra egg yolk
  • 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
  • Dutch-process cocoa powder (for pan dusting)
  • 14 oz (397g) sweetened condensed milk
  • Dark chocolate syrup
  • 8 oz (225g) whipped topping
  • Snickers baking bites, halved
  • Shaved chocolate

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and grease a 9×13 inch glass pan with butter, dusting the surface with Dutch-process cocoa powder instead of flour.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the cake mix, three eggs, the additional egg yolk, milk, and vegetable oil until the batter is smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for approximately 30 minutes until the edges pull away from the sides; remove and rest for 5 to 10 minutes.
  4. Poke holes across the warm cake using the handle of a wooden spoon, spacing them about 1 inch apart to create reservoirs for the liquid.
  5. Slowly drizzle the sweetened condensed milk and dark chocolate syrup over the surface, then refrigerate for at least 2 to 3 hours before finishing with whipped topping, Snickers bites, and shaved chocolate.

Notes

For the best structural results, use a glass pan which allows for even heat distribution and better visualization of the saturation layers. Always ensure the whipped topping is fully thawed but still chilled before spreading to prevent it from melting into the warm syrup reservoirs.
