Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees (175 Celsius) and grease three 9-inch round cake pans, lining the bottoms with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the chocolate cake mixes, whole milk, softened butter, and eggs until the batter is smooth and glossy.
  3. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the centers spring back when pressed.
  4. Allow the cake layers to cool completely on a wire rack before assembling.
  5. Prepare the cookie dough filling by creaming brown sugar and butter, then folding in vanilla, salt, flour, powdered sugar, milk, and mini chocolate chips.
  6. Make the blue buttercream by whisking butter, powdered sugar, and heavy cream until fluffy, then tinting with blue gel and folding in crushed Oreos.
  7. Create the ganache by pouring heated heavy cream over semi-sweet chocolate chips and whisking until smooth.
  8. Assemble the cake by layering the chocolate sponges with cookie dough frosting, coating the exterior in blue buttercream, and finishing with ganache drips and cookie decorations.

Notes

To ensure the most stable assembly, chill the cake layers for 30 minutes before frosting to prevent the layers from sliding.
