Description

This vibrant marbled cake features a stunning pink and white interior with a silky vanilla buttercream finish. It utilizes an express baking method to deliver a bakery-quality, moist crumb that is perfect for any romantic celebration.

Ingredients

  • 2 boxes White Cake Mix
  • Egg Whites (per box instructions)
  • Canola Oil (per box instructions)
  • Water (per box instructions)
  • Unsalted Butter, softened
  • Powdered Sugar
  • Heavy Whipping Cream
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Pink Gel Food Coloring
  • Maraschino Cherries
  • Heart Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare cake pans with non-stick baking spray.
  2. Using a hand mixer, beat the cake mix, egg whites, water, and oil in a large bowl until the batter is smooth.
  3. Divide the batter into two separate bowls and mix pink gel food coloring into one bowl, leaving the other white.
  4. Create a marble effect by alternating 1/4 cup scoops of pink and white batter into the center of the pans until filled.
  5. Bake for 28 to 32 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cakes to cool completely on a wire rack before frosting.
  7. In a standing mixer, whip the softened butter, powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla until the frosting is smooth and holds stiff peaks.
  8. Level the cooled cake layers by trimming the domes, then stack with a generous layer of frosting between each.
  9. Coat the outside of the cake in a thin layer of white frosting and chill for 30 minutes to set.
  10. Microwave a small portion of pink frosting for 10 seconds and pipe drips around the edges, then decorate with heart sprinkles, a piped heart outline, and maraschino cherries.

Notes

To achieve the cleanest marble pattern, allow the batter scoops to spread naturally rather than swirling them with a knife. For the smoothest frosting, ensure your butter is fully softened to room temperature before mixing to avoid any lumps. If decorating in a warm kitchen, chill your layers briefly between steps to maintain the structural integrity of the buttercream.
