Description
A stunning gown-shaped cake featuring layers of soft white sponge and vibrant sky blue buttercream rosettes. Perfect for a princess-themed celebration, this dessert combines magical aesthetics with a melt-in-your-mouth texture.
Ingredients
- 3 boxes white cake mix
- 3 3/4 cups water
- 9 large eggs
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- Vanilla buttercream frosting
- Sky blue gel food coloring
- Cinderella doll
- Plastic wrap
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 8-inch round cake pans lined with parchment paper.
- Combine one box of cake mix, 1 1/4 cups water, 3 eggs, and 1/3 cup vegetable oil; mix for 2 minutes until smooth.
- Bake for 29-34 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean, then let cool for 10 minutes in the pan before transferring to waxed paper.
- Repeat the mixing and baking process for the remaining cake mixes to create a total of six layers; level the tops with a serrated knife once cooled.
- Tint buttercream with sky blue gel coloring and stack five layers with frosting in between, inserting a plastic-wrapped doll into the center.
- Chill for 30 minutes, carve the stacked cake into a bell shape, apply a thin crumb coat of blue frosting, and chill for another 30 minutes.
- Use a 1M star tip to pipe rows of blue rosettes from the bottom of the gown up to the doll’s waist to complete the design.
Notes
For the best results, ensure your buttercream is stiff enough to hold its shape for the rosettes; if it feels too soft, chill it for 10-15 minutes before piping. When carving the skirt, keep the cake scraps to make cake pops or a quick trifle so nothing goes to waste.
